Children's Services

All seven libraries of the RCPL system are dedicated to bringing educational and entertaining services to children and young adults.

Each library emphasizes service to children from birth through fifth grade.  Every library has a special area set aside for children, including books, maps, games, and audiovisual material. We frequently have magicians, music, visiting storytellers, animal programs, or other events.

All seven libraries have storytimes for preschoolers and school-age children. Contact the library of your choice for days and times.

The libraries also participate in the statewide Summer Reading Program in order to encourage reading among school-age children from toddlers through middle school.

To find out more about our programs for children please call (336) 318-6800 or contact your local library branch.

Every Child Ready to Read

Every Child Ready to Read®, developed by the Public Library Association and the Association for Library Services to Children, is based on research about language, early literacy skills and how children learn. The techniques give parents and caregivers simple but powerful ways to help kids develop the language and other skills they need to learn to read.

Every Child Ready to Read® is a project of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Public Library Association (PLA), divisions of the American Library Association. ALSC and PLA have developed early childhood literacy materials and programs to help every child become a successful reader.

Every Child Ready to Read® at the Randolph County Public Library was initiated with grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the federal Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
