Track your summer reading for prizes and rewards! 

Sign up at your local library.

Pick up a Reading Tracker Bookmark from your local branch. Track your minutes while you read. Return your completed bookmark to your library for prizes and grand prize entries. Prizes will vary at each library, but will include cool gadgets, books, and library gear! Grand prizes will include LeapFrogs, colorful drones, 3D Pens, and more.

Visit our Asheboro Summer Reading page for more information about reading prizes, grand prizes & more!  Fun & Free Events for the Whole Family!  No Registration required for Children’s summer events, except where indicated. Programs are all ages, unless otherwise specified. All events will take place at Asheboro Public Library. Groups of 8 or more, please courtesy call ahead at 336-318-6804. 

Every Wednesday at 10:00 AM, from June 11th - July 30th is Baby Free Play.

Bring your littlest little for an hour of bubbles, sensory toys, and playtime with other babies! Parents can meet and greet while their babies play. Best for ages 0-3. 

Every Thursday at 2:30 PM, from June 12th - July 31st, is Arts & Crafts.

Join us each week for a new artistic craft. Great for all ages.

Saturday, June 7th at 10:00-11:30 AM: Messy Outdoor Summer Reading Kick-off

Sign up for summer reading and watch the silk scarf aerialist Down to Earth Aerial’s Amanda Durnell perform right outside the Asheboro Public Library! We’ll have outdoor art for all ages, including rock painting, chalk designs, color run powder and more. 

Tuesday, June 10th at 2:30: Board Game Bonanza

Join us for a deliciously fun day of games and adventure at the Asheboro Public Library! Families and friends of all ages are invited to explore our life-sized Candy Land game, where you’ll become the game piece and journey through a world of gumdrops, lollipops, and chocolate trails! We’ll also have a wide selection of classic and new children’s board games available to play, perfect for all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or trying a game for the first time, there’s something sweet for everyone.

Friday, June 13th at 2:00 PM: Matt Sandbanks Shadow Factory

Cinematic shadow puppets dance across the screen to uplifting music and traditional storytelling during Matt Sandbank’s Shadow Factory performance. Be amazed by the artistry of light and shadow! 

Tuesday, June 17th at 2:30 PM: Sigmon Theatrical’s Color Circus

Prepare to be amazed and astounded by the colorful circus acts of Sigmon Theatrical’s Color Circus! How do they fit all this into one library? Come and find out!

Friday, June 20th at 10:30 AM: Jeghetto’s Puppeteer Show

A celebration of classic puppetry with a blend of modern hip-hop beats. See the amazing skill of Jeghetto’s puppets and learn how to make puppet shows at home! 

Tuesday, June 24th at 10:00 AM: Shepherd Shakespeare’s As You Like It

Shepherd Shakespeare makes theater fun and interactive for children and families in this energetic performance of As You Like It. Be prepared to laugh!

Friday, June 27th at 10:30 AM: Wild Tails Reptile Show 

Meet some fuzzy, scaly and super cool critters at the Wild Tails show! Educational and fun for the whole family. 

Tuesday, July 8th at 10:00 AM: NC Zoo Carolina’s Coolest Animals 

Meet Carolina’s Coolest creatures with the NC Zoo! Fun and educational program for the whole family. 

Friday, July 11th at 11:00 AM: Big Bang Boom Band 

Get ready to dance at this high-energy, family friendly, kiddie rock concert! Beloved children’s musicians, the Big Bang Boom Band, perform family classics and unique songs to get you moving and shaking. Be prepared for a kids vs. adults dance battle!

Listen to a story, sing songs and meet some colorful creatures with your Asheboro Children’s Librarians! 

Friday, July 18th at 11:00 AM: NC Claws Animal Show

Meet some feathered friends and learn more about animals at the NC Claws live animal event! 

Tuesday, July 22nd at 10:30 AM: Colorful Salad Celebration

Join Allison from 4H for a colorful, hands-on cooking program! Learn basic knife skills and how to make your own salad dressing. Registration required, best for ages 7+. Please call 336-318-6804 to sign up your child for this program.

Friday, July 25th at 2:00 PM: StarLab Planetarium Storytime

Listen to a tale about the stars and planets from our Asheboro Children’s Librarians, then sit inside the indoor planetarium to be transported into space! 

Tuesday, July 29th at 6:00 PM: Rockstar Magic Show 

Magic tricks, illusions, and hysterical antics meet for an amazing rock star magic performance! The whole family will be amazed.

Kick off a colorful summer of reading, creativity and fun with hands-on activities, chalk art, and folk-rock-country band Corey Hunt and the Wise from 6-7 p.m.

Children and families are invited to work with artist Ethan Morrow to create a sculptural piece of art for installation in the library’s garden space.

  • Check out books, audiobooks, e-books, or e-audio books from Randleman Library.
  • Color in a 20 minute box for every 20 minutes you read or are read to by someone.
  • Collect a prize OR a ticket for the grand prize drawing for every 2 hours read.
  • Ages 5-10: Need a backpack for the 2025 school year? Read 4 hours to earn one! Then, collect badges & keychains for your bookbag through reading and completing library activities!

Photos and videos taken at Randolph County Public Libraries events and programs are often shared with the community in a variety of forms. Videos may be archived on our YouTube channel. Photos may be added to our Facebook or Instagram accounts, and on rare occasions to our website.
