Early Literacy Begins With You.
Help your child get ready to read with simple activities every day.

 You are your child's first teacher, and your home is where your child begins to learn.

For more tips and information on helping your young child begin to read, visit your Liberty Library and pick up a brochure. 

Talking

• Make sure your child has lots of opportunities to talk with you, not just listen to you talk

Singing

• Sing the alphabet song to learn about letters.

Reading

• Read every day.

Writing

• Writing begins with scribbles - Encourage this by providing many opportunities to draw and write.

Playing

• Give your child plenty of playtime. Some of the best play is where children can use their imaginations and create stories about what they're doing.
